go-to puff pastry honey apple tart

as much as i love baking things from scratch, there are most definitely moments where finding a go-to, last minute recipe is gold. and i think i’ve found just that recipe adapted from this one here with this delicious ‘sweet, spice, and everything nice’ pastry. with 6 ingredients, it’s incredibly simple, and with just 30 minutes of baking time, it’s incredibly fast.

i’m so in love with this recipe that i’m just gonna cut to the chase and give you the goods to make the good stuff:

prep: 15 m | bake: 30 m

ingredients:

  • one sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed. i got mine from trader joe’s, but they’re usually in the frozen dessert section of any grocery store.
  • 2-3 medium apples: peeled, halved, sliced thinly. i used a mandolin, which helped a ton!
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp cold, unsalted butter – cubed
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • confectioners’ sugar

instructions:

  1. preheat oven: 400F
  2. unfold puff pastry on a floured surface and roll into a size that fits your baking pan/sheet on parchment paper.
  3. lightly score a 1-inch rectangle border, and poke holes in the inner rectangle with a fork.
  4. layer your apple slices in whatever way/style you like! then sprinkle with sugar and top with butter cubes
  5. bake for 25 minutes — drizzle and spread honey on top of tart (you can microwave the honey for 20 seconds or so to get it in a more liquid form), then bake it for another 5 minutes.
  6. take it out and let it cool before cutting into your desired pieces!

oh boy oh boy, it tastes great with the honey. i’m thinking of trying this recipe out with different types of honey — i’m thinking lavender — and find my favorite! this recipe is just fall bottled up in your mouth 🙂 if you haven’t already, this is going to make you fall in love with fall, so much so that you might make this year round and make it fall 100% of the time. yes yes yes. fall. mmmmmm.
